ESL Support
Teachers, Students and Learners of all Levels and Ages Worldwide
World Debating Forum is proud to collaborate with Berlitz, the world’s leading language group, to strengthen our ESL platform.
Together, we are building a program that supports:
- Students learning any langauage at every level
- Teachers integrating ESL into classrooms
- Global debating and communication in multiple languages
This memo is to help you understand as much as possible why we support how Berlitz can improve your language skills in over a hundred languages that we are making available to you, by agreement between World Debating Forum and Berlitz. This is going to be available for you to work with this world class language and learning platform that has real time instructors and support available. We have put together an optional support program with the Berlitz language group that we believe will be a very strong support for those who are really going to be focused on our ESL (English Second Language) program.
World Debating Forum and Berlitz: Empowering Global Voices Through Language
The World Debating Forum has partnered with Berlitz to provide members exclusive discounted tuition rates on world-class language programs. Whether you’re a student, educator, or professional, this partnership gives you access to private one-on-one lessons, self-paced digital learning, and interactive group classes designed to help you communicate with confidence.
Berlitz offers Group programs tailored for schools/after-school programs, private one-on-one courses for learners ages 5 through adult, and self-paced programs for students in 9th grade and above.
Master a new language. Broaden your perspective. Lead the conversation.
Whether it’s done within your school and support of your teacher, or at a personal level to support your ESL commitment, you could do it at all levels possible in school, debating, online virtual debating with your friends and associates. If you could you’re going to form a little club and do it where you’re all focusing on the same language in the ESL platform and learning from it.
We believe that the association with Berlitz is going to be really helpful for all the people who are trying to learn a second or third language. Berlitz are experts, and they can take you to a higher level.
Customization is based on program, availability, and additional internal cost for Berlitz. While we can customize, we want to avoid full customizations for all programs. They have already done some of that for the World Debating Forum. Their programs can be done for schools, with your class, or individually. Some may look expensive, but they really are not when you look at what you get. For example, one program allows 15 students for a whole lot of classes at very little cost.
If you want to go from being an intermediate or slightly understanding the language to being highly proficient, Berlitz professionals can really get you there in a short period of time.
As noted in the WDF book on Guide to creative fundraising, the average school of 500 students should raise around $50,000 -$75,000 a year through their debating fundraising program. While designed to also support music and art, this can additionally support Berlitz language-enhancing programs. Berlitz is not regionally accredited, but we do have Accet. Not sure if we should have this as a call out within the letter. Colleges can participate as well and may receive support from their own foundations, raising considerably more than grade schools or high schools.
Understand that $50,000 may sound like a lot, but it’s really not if you start applying the ideas in that WDF Fundraising book. We are also working with corporations that are going to help support this. We believe that if you truly want to learn another language as part of your life goals, Berlitz can really help you get there faster and in a more complete and comprehensive way. You can then start debating at a very high level in the language you’re trying to learn.
Affordability can always be worked out. If you’re debating, you’re already thinking about how to figure things out and how to make things happen. There are ways for this to be paid for. Some students may not require this and can work hard enough within the ESL program to succeed at an intermediate or professional level with a solid commitment to work in a diligent way.
On the next page, you will find information Berlitz has put together for us, which may change over time. Their immersive, goal-oriented, and practice-based platform is definitely a game-changer. If you’re struggling, maybe just do a little bit of fill-in. But the most efficient way is to get classmates to do it together in one of their student programs. They can even customize a program for just 10 students.
We highly recommend Berlitz. They are considered the best of the best in the World when it comes to language learning at all levels, but especially advanced. You may decide to wait until you reach an intermediate level before moving up, but the advantage is clear: if you want to reach an advanced proficiency before college, Berlitz language support will be much easier, and you’ll be far ahead of your peers.
I highly recommend this program. Please read the attached Berlitz customized World Debating Forum Platform below.
